Annabooks Releases New Book for Windows 10 IoT Enterprise

New eBook provides Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating Custom Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Images

Yorba Linda, Calif., Dec 6, 2016 – Annabooks is pleased to announce the release of a new book titled Starter Guide for Windows® 10 IoT Enterprise, written by Sean D. Liming and John R. Malin. Windows® 10 is the latest Windows operating system from Microsoft. Embedded/IoT developers have taken advantage of desktop operating systems since the early days of the PC. From MS-DOS to Windows 10, many development tools have been created to help integrate the desktop OS into an embedded system. Rather than have separate embedded and desktop versions, Windows 10 includes many of the lockdown features that used to only be available in Windows Embedded versions. Now everyone is working from the same operating system. The book focusses on developing custom images using Windows® System Image Manager (SIM). The book shows how SIM can be used to automate the installation of the Window 10 operating system and how to include applications, device drivers, and custom settings. Special focus is made on architecting the image, as well as, maintaining and supporting the platform over a long life cycle.

“If Windows 10 is the last Windows operating system, this likely is the last book covering Windows Desktop for embedded systems. It has been a long journey since my first book: Windows NT Embedded Step-By-Step back in 2000,” says Sean Liming, Owner and co-author. “As Windows 10 is updated, we will periodically update the book with any new information.”

The first few chapters cover the basics, such as catalog creation, distribution share setup, answer file creation, and finally, Windows image creation and deployment. The book’s final chapters cover the device lockdown features, custom interfaces, security, and real-time support. Several hands-on exercises cover the various tools, concepts, and technologies. Exercise files are downloadable from the Annabooks website.

The eBook is priced at $49.95, and it is available on Amazon Kindle.
