Training Courses

Annabooks has a long history of training courses for embedded development. We have been fortunate to have some of our authors also teach some of our classes. Past courses have covered Windows CE, Windows NT Embedded, PC architecture and design, POS for .NET, and .NET Micro Framework.  Currently, we are offering classes on Windows Embedded 8 Standard, Windows Embedded Standard 7, and Windows XP Embedded.

Our classes are built on our successful Learn-by-Doing philosophy.   Each class is broken into modules. Many modules contain hands-on labs that emphasize key features and topics presented in the lecture.  This lets you work with each topic as it is presented, before moving onto the next topic.  Each topic of a lecture series builds on the topic before it in a logical sequence.  We find this technique very successful for bringing you up to speed quickly and helping you to retain what you have learned.

Information on our currently scheduled training classes is listed below.  Public class dates and locations are scheduled and additional class dates will be added throughout the year.  We also provide onsite training; so please contact us if you are interested, so we can schedule a training session at your facility.

Windows® 10 IoT Core Pro Training Course

Windows 10 IoT Core is the smallest of the new Windows Core family, and it is targeted for Embedded/IoT systems. Like past Windows Embedded offerings, IoT Core information is scattered across the web. There are two basic development paths, application development and image development. The Windows 10 IoT Core Pro Training Course (1 Day) focusses on image development. By gathering the information across the internet, the class covers several topics such as the new Windows Embedded/IoT direction, required software and hardware tools, remote management, basic application deployment, image development process, selectable OS features, application integration, and device driver integration. Four hands-on labs walk through Host/Target system setup, basic application development, custom image development and application integration, and device driver integration.

The target for the class is the MinnowBoard Max, MinnowBoard Turbot, or Raspberry Pi 2 & 3. Students are to bring their own target (with LCD, SD card, and keyboard/mouse) and Windows 10 Build(1703, Version 15063) development laptop or higher. 5 GB of free space is needed on the host laptop to install all the tools. A list of what needs to be installed will be provided after signing up. We have a limited number of laptops that can be used in the class. A wired network will be provided for Host/Target development.
